Everything you need to know about visiting Walt Disney World in the Spring
Are you considering a visit to Walt Disney World in the spring to take advantage of Spring/Easter Break or April Vacation?
My family and I love to visit Walt Disney World during this time of year. In fact, we took our first-ever family trip to Disney World in late April.
Those memories hold a special place in our hearts.
Lucky you, it is also when the Flower and Garden Festival takes place at EPCOT, and I promise the park will be its most beautiful.
I have put together everything you need to know about the seasonal events, weather, and more so you know everything going on during your trip.
EPCOT INTERNATIONAL FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL
One of the highlights of springtime in Disney World is the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival!
This festival typically kicks off in early March and runs through late May or early June.
And I definitely suggest you check it out if it’s running during your visit! There’s plenty to see and do at the festival. Of course, as its name suggests, there are plenty of beautiful blooms to take in.
There are over twenty topiary displays throughout the park that feature some of our favorite Disney characters! Plus, there are other gardens and displays throughout the park, including a bamboo garden, butterfly garden, floating gardens, and more!
And it wouldn’t be an Epcot festival without FOOD?!?
Outdoor Kitchens are set up around the Promenade and World Showcase that feature delicious food and beverage options. A few of our favorites from previous years include the Violet Lemonade, Local Wildflower Honey-Mascarpone Cheesecake, and Salmon Flower Ikura!
Guests who want to dig a little deeper can also check out one of the extra-ticketed special events or tours!
We’ve seen a Royal Tea Garden Tour, Gardens of the World Tour, Egg-Stravaganza Scavenger Hunt, and more!
Plus, as part of you day ticket to the theme parks, there’s an included entertainment option – unique for the festival.
The Garden Rocks Concert Series features three nightly performances.
These events are popular though, so you’ll need to get there early to ensure you get a spot! Or, to secure your seat without the wait, you can opt for the Garden Rocks Dining Package, which includes dinner and guaranteed seating at the concert!
ANIMAL KINGDOM EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS
Earth Day might not be the first holiday that comes to mind when thinking of Disney World, but it does have a close connection to one of the parks.
Animal Kingdom held its grand opening on Earth Day (April 22nd), and since the park focuses heavily on conservation, they celebrate the holiday in style.
The Earth Day celebration in Animal Kingdom is known as the Party for the Planet, and there are all kinds of special activities to enjoy!
In previous years, we’ve seen special character interactions, unique dining experiences, meet-and-greets with animal care specialists and conservation experts, themed merchandise, unique snacks, and more!
WEATHER
In April, the average high temperature in Orlando is 84 degrees and the average low is 63 degrees.
And here’s something that might surprise you — spring is actually one of the least rainy times in Florida.
Despite the generally warm afternoons, you could still experience a chilly morning on your trip. So, be sure to bring a light jacket or sweater that you can wear in the morning and then store in your park bag when it starts to heat up.
And it will probably be a comfortable enough temperature for most people to swim, so bring your swimsuit if you plan to take advantage of the hotel pools!
BEFORE YOU GO
You are not the only one with a break or vacation during the spring months.
The fact that every school has a different schedule spreads crowds out quite a bit. It is still a very busy time in the park. It is very important to stay ahead of the hordes with careful planning during this time. Use code BLOG10 for 10% off this Crowd Calendar!
